Pros: Not the tool for showing of - sturdy and strong, this is a tool for serious work. One of the best quality/price ratio out there. Powerful lock back makes it very safe. The blades hold their edge longer the what you'll see in 95% of multitools. Great pliers and screwdrivers. Completely resistant to corrosion which makes it great for work around water. Easy one- hand opening and all tools lock open, which is rare in this price range. Overall, amazing quality for the price, especially if you can find it on some sort of a sale, which we try to find for you on this website.

Cons: Some users find it too bulky. An extra few mm on the pliers opening would be great, too. No nail catch included.

When a multitool is coming from Gerber blades and has “legend” in the name of the tool, you have a gut feeling it’s going to be good.

Gerber Legend Multitool review- the PROs as per the user:

Gerber_Legend_opened

  • I’ve owned several brands and several multi tools…this one is by far the best…
  • So sturdy and strong that you can really get serious work done with it…
  • I had the last one for ten years before I decided to get another two just in case they run out of stock since I see the manufacturer has discontinued it…
  • Powerful lock back so there’s no broken knuckles…
  • Huge hit as a present for my husband…the quality is superior…
  • One of the two I own is like new and I had it for 10 years…
  • Everything you might need for camping…this thing packs it…
  • This is the best multitool on the market hands down. I use it in the army to repair weapons and vehicles and even though my mates have other tools, they end up borrowing mine because it is so much stronger…
  • Cannot beat the price for this kind of quality…worth every penny…
  • Amazingly durable, the knife stays razor sharp for years and I would never again think of getting another brand of multitools…
  • I run a horse farm and with the previous tools I would either got frustrated using them or they would break easily…
  • I tried other brands and finally decided to spend an extra 20 or 30 bucks and I have never looked back since…
  • Shocked by how good the customer service is. I broke one of the pliers pieces and sent it to Gerber for repair. Got a brand new one even though the old one has been used for years…
  • A must have for any outdoor enthusiast…
  • My tool has spent most of it’s time in or around water and not a spot of corrosion…
  • Gerber certainly made no compromises on this one…
  • The easiest tool for operating with one hand from the many I have seen…if you can’t operate it with one hand, then you shouldn’t probably be using a tool in the first place…
  • This is by far the best multi tool ever made by man, and I have owned quite a few, both brands and models…
  • The only tool I am aware of that has both one-hand opening blade and tools that all lock open…

Gerber Legend Multitool review- the CONs as per the users:

  • One of the side pliers broke on mine…
  • My knife broke…
  • Too bulky for my taste…
  • A bigger opening on the pliers would be better…
  • The gap on the handle is too much for a comfy grip…
  • Some tools are difficult to open in the beginning…
  • A nail catch would be a great addition, I find this to be a major flaw…

My resume:

Overall rating Of Gerber Legend Multitool

I take a step back and look at all the PROs and CONs that I read and think about everything I heard from the people I contacted and one question that pops to mind is: “Why don’t I have this tool in my collection?”

It scored 47 out of 50 in our Overall Quality Rating and I am giving it a solid 4.5 star review.

I am finishing up this review and ordering one myself before they are out of stock, since it seems that Gerber stopped making these, not sure why.

Sure there are CONs people are talking about, but by now I know how to distinguish between deal-breakers and simple flukes.

One might get a flawed one, it happens, and that’s where the customer service of the company comes in and it seems to me that they over-deliver, and that is a rarity these days.

Way to go, Gerber Blades.
